Who we are

Midnight Harvest is a free browser game at midnightharvest.net, made and run by DC Software. When this policy says we, it means us. Write to us any time: support@midnightharvest.net.

This page says what we keep about you, why, who else sees it, how long we keep it and how to have it deleted. It is written to be read.

What we keep

Your account. The name you play under, your password (only as a scrambled hash — nobody can read it back), and, if you add them, an email address and a link to your Twitch account (Twitch’s id for you and your Twitch name). Your portrait, title, colour and the words you write in your profile.

What you do in the game. The matches you play (who sat where, roles, votes, how they ended), your Silver, items and progress, your friends, the notes you keep about them, the players you block, and the letters you send and receive.

Chat. What is said at a table is kept with that match’s case file so the staff can look into a report: 30 days (7 at a table of villagers), or longer while a report about that match is open.

Payments. A Patron’s Charter, and a villager from the Moonlit Gallery, is paid on PayPal’s own page; we never see your card or your PayPal login. We keep the order: its number, the amount, the date, PayPal’s transaction id, who it was for, and a scrambled form of the internet address it came from (to stop fraud). A Gallery purchase also keeps which villager it was and its number. The artist’s signed picture that comes with it is given only to its owner, signed in to the game — never by a link in an email.

Reports you send. A bug report keeps what you wrote, a picture if you add one, and a few details of the page (its size and version). A report about a player keeps what you wrote and the lines of chat around it.

To keep the game running. Internet addresses are used, as they arrive, to slow down guessing at passwords and keys; they are not stored with your account. If the page breaks, the error is reported to us with which account (or a scrambled address) saw it, so it is counted once — never with what you were doing.

What we do with it

We use it to run the game: to sign you in, keep your progress, show other players your name and profile, send the account emails you ask for (confirming an address, resetting a password, a receipt when you pay) and keep the village fair (reports, case files, bans).

We do not sell it, show you adverts, use advertising or tracking cookies, or send marketing email.

Who else sees it

Other players see what the game shows at the fire: your name, portrait, title, colour, level, Moon, profile words, the pet you bring, whether you are a patron (you can switch that off) and, if you choose, your Twitch name. Never your email.

Our staff (the Warden and the moderators) can see account details and case files to keep the game fair.

Services we use: PayPal (payments), our host Bluehost (the server), HostGator (sending account emails) and Twitch (only if you sign in with it). Each handles what it needs under its own policy.

On your device

The game keeps your sign-in and your settings in your browser’s own storage. No advertising cookies. Signing out removes the sign-in.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. When you delete it:

Children

Midnight Harvest is not made for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has made an account, write to us and we will delete it.
