The Journal. Now and then — before the first night, and as the village wakes — a page lies somewhere in the village, catching the moonlight — on your screen alone, whether you still sit at the fire or have fallen and stayed to watch. Your very first page is certain: it waits for you by The Rusty Pummel. Pick it up before night falls: it goes into your Journal, the book on the bar, and the find pays 25 Silver and 50 XP. There are 28 pages, four in each of 7 places; each place's four complete a collection, and when every page is in place the last chapter opens. A page left lying is gone by nightfall — though now and then one turns up in the village while you wait at the menu, and stays a little while.
The Villagers. The 12 villagers who keep the fire have stories of their own, and they tell them to those who sit with them. Share a fire with a villager often enough and, when a match is over, one of them stays to tell you the next part — 4 parts each, kept in your Journal under its second bookmark, The Villagers. A night counts when the villager sits there as one of the village’s own and you stay to the end, win or lose. A villager heard out pays 25 Silver, and hearing all 12 out earns a title. When one speaks, a notice waits for you at the menu until you read it.
