Game Guide › A Round at the Fire
A Round at the Fire
Night, morning, discussion, the Ash Cast.
Every match is a string of Rounds, each a night and the day after it. The first Round opens with your role card.
- Your Role (1 minute). The cards are dealt. Read yours, then gather at the fire; village chat is already open. First Round only.
- Night (1 minute). The Werewolves, the Seer, the Doctor and the Woodsman act in secret. Everyone else sees only the moon. The night ends early once everyone who acts has chosen.
- Hourly Announcement (8 seconds). Who did not wake (never their role), whether a log reached the fire, and how long the fire will last.
- Around the Blaze (2 minutes). Talk it over. Accuse, defend, persuade.
- The Ash Cast (30 seconds). Every living player may vote to exile one other.
- Judgement (8 seconds). The result: who is cast into the well, with who cast ash on whom.
- Killed in the night. Found at the Hourly Announcement. The village learns who, never their role.
- Exiled by the Ash Cast. Cast into the well at Judgement, with the count and whose ash it was.
- A tied Ash Cast. When the most ash lies evenly on two or more villagers, no one is cast into the well. The village is told who was level, and with how many votes. When as many abstain as the most ash on anyone, the village holds its ash, and no one goes in either.
These are the default lengths; the host can change the night and the discussion in the waiting room. The match ends the moment a side has won, after the Hourly Announcement or after Judgement.
- The dead watch. Once you are out you cannot chat in the village, vote or act, but you can see the match through.
- Dropped out? You keep your stool. After 45 seconds the village plays your seat for you (it acts and votes, never speaks) until you are back.
