The Rusty Pummel. Press the tavern’s door, or the tankard sign that hangs beside it, and Nora will pour you a drink for a little Silver. A drink changes only how your own words are spelt at your next fire — properly slurred in the waiting room, before the first night and among the fallen, never more than tipsy while the village is deciding — and it wears off when that match is over. It changes no card, no vote and no reward. Stand a round and the whole table is told who paid. Win a match, and the next ale is on the house. Nora serves at the menu, in the waiting room and to the fallen; never to the living at the fire.
A word in Nora’s ear. For a small tip Nora tells you what she has heard: sometimes something useful — that a villager has something to tell you, or that the well has a free coin — and never anyone’s secret.
